Carol Hoffman-Guzman - Founding Director
Carol has a 35+ year history working with nonprofit, faith-based and arts organizations. She was a visual artist in Denver, where she exhibited at galleries and museums, developed a regional arts newspaper, and helped curate local visual arts shows. 

Education: academic studies in visual arts, art history & indigenous art, with BA in anthropology at Cornell University (Ithaca), Columbia University (NYC), Crafts Students League (NYC), and South Florida Arts Center (Miami). Media of choice: fiber, assemblage, painting, photography, and recyclables. Arts Administration: Founding Director of Craft Range Magazine (a visual arts tabloid in Colorado) and Arts at St. Johns (Miami Beach).

Carol was previously the Director of the Kellogg Family Foundation Project at M-DC and the Executive Director of Miami Urban Ministries. Carol also has Masters in Theology, and a PhD in Sociology (race & ethnicity), all of which help inform the cross-cultural and diversity vision of programming at the ASJ.

PROGRAM DIRECTORS

William Carney is the Program Director of the "CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERTS," a monthly event usually on the 4th Sunday, 3-5 pm. The program kicked off with a vocal soloist and continued with classical guitar, string and brass quartets, and a woodwind quintet. 

Nestor Zurita (alto sax) comes on board as Program Director for the "SECOND SUNDAYS AT ST. JOHNS," a new jazz series held on 2nd Sundays, 3-5 pm, on St. John's lakeside patio. Each month features different local jazz musicians.

Ken Whiting - Lighting & Sound
Ken has worked at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens since 1979 as maintenance mechanic. Ken's job is to repair, maintain, install electrical, plumbing, pumps, air conditioning, lighting, generators, sound systems, electric & lighting for events etc. Vizcaya has a 23-rank 3-manual Welte pipe organ with roll player, which he also helps maintain.
